Open Pavilion
The open Noord-Holland pavilion is an open-air meeting space. The visitors come to rest in the curved concrete bowls. From there they view 68 photographs depicting the province of Noord-Holland. The long linear sculpture to which the photos are attached struggles its way over the bowls like a giant multimedia snake. The visitors are immersed in the art project. The art work is the information carrier.
Intuitive sketches
The dynamic 3d course of the structure derives from an impulsive intuitive handdrawn sketch by ilona lénárd. The sketch is a radical gesture of the human body used to introduce instant spontaneity into the built environment. This radical gesture translates directly into steel and concrete. Having fixed the gesture, it represents dynamism on a visual level. As the visitors move they merge into the curled folded space, their perception of dynamics is triggered off, enhancing more radical 3d experiences in their own human brains. Sculpture and visitor dance on a common path through space-time.
Personal exhibition
The course of the curled structure is a full 150 m long. The 3d sketch clones itself into a kind of DNA molecule of 68 sectors, containing one photo per sector. Programmable lights and loud speakers are built into the structure. Passing visitors trigger sensors which drive the programmable content. By walking through the structure each visitor assembles his/her own personal version of the exhibition.
