One of my intuitive computer sketches has given shape to the crumpled zone of the roof. The folded roof of the artist’s studio of Villa Hutten in Bergen op Zoom is the first materialization of the folding of a computer sketch into the third dimension in the combined work of myself and architect Kas Oosterhuis. The roof is folded in a way that challenges all reason. Though not disfunctional, from the viewpoint of the maker it did not start with function at all. It is a purely intuitive gesture which has been literally dragged into the process of materialization.
